UCERT is looking for 24 to 30 volunteers to assist Upland Police Department with traffic control on June 9th for the L’Etape bike race. Our responsibility will be limited to 12 non-signalized intersections. UPD will be covering the rest of the intersections.
Starting point is Cable Airport; the racers travel north towards the city limit. Due to the length of the route, radio relay will be needed. It’s a great opportunity to enhance your radio skills.
Date: Sunday, June 9, 2019
Reporting time: 6:30 a.m. for briefing; Race starts at 7:30 a.m.
Equipment Needed: Long pants; closed toed shoes; CERT vest; bright flashlight; FRS Radio and Ham radio (if you have one). We have spare FRS radios if you need one.
Duration: Due to the competitive nature of the race we suspect we will be released from duty by 8:15 a.m.
