COMMUNICATIONS EXERCISE
You will be assigned a team number.
There will be 3 groups activated as part of the call out:
CERT BASE ,
CERT Operations,
CERT Logistics
If an actual emergency occurs during the exercise, any team member may say the words “Real Life” to end the exercise and rally your team members to the assembly area (Hughes Center, padua room).
The overall scenario for this exercise is that there has been severe wind and rain storms in the area. Police and Fire are fully utilized and are asking for CERT to help with specific calls around the city. In all scenarios ONLY CERT members are available, except where indicated police or fire are already at the location.
Claremont CERT Team Radio Use
If you wish to call another CERT member, start with your call sign followed by their call sign.
For Example: If you are “CERT Team 3” and you wish to call “CERT Base”.
Your call would be: “CERT Team 3”, “CERT Base”
The CERT Base would respond: “CERT Team 3” go ahead
Before using the radio, listen for a short period of time, so that you do not interrupt another conversation.
Push and hold the Push-to-Talk button for two seconds before talking.
